United Homecraft is a full service remodeling
company. Incorporated in 1985, it is co-owned by William Nyberg, President, and
Wayne Kaufman, Vice-President, who together have over 27 years experience in the
residential remodeling industry.
United
Homecraft has a reputation for its high professional standards, customer service,
customer satisfaction and it's outreach in the industry and community. The company
has grown from six employees to approximately ninety at the present with sales projected
to be around six million dollars for fiscal year 1999.
United
Homecraft is recognized by area businesses for its quality work and professionalism.
United Homecraft is an authorized contractor for Builders Square, Home Quarters,
Sam's Club, Home Depot, and all the Lowe's stores in southern Illinois. They sell,
install, and provide service for replacement windows, all types of siding, kitchen and
bath remodeling, and kitchen cabinet refacing. The company also participated in the
Gundaker Realtors "Value Plus Partner" program, and has a display located in the
main Sunshine Drapery Store.
Another
important affiliation for United Homecraft is their active work and membership in the
National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI). NARI serves as an important
resource for consumers, as well as member companies, encouraging professionalism, ethical
conduct, and promoting high standards for quality work.
Wayne
Kaufman has been a National NARI Board member, and served as the Vice-Chairman of the
Government Affairs Committee. In his Vice-Chairman role Wayne has been extremely
active on Capitol Hill on behalf of the industry, and has testified before the House Small
Business Committee on the issue of IRS independent contractor reforms.
On the local
level, Wayne has served as the Ethics Chairman and President of the local St. Louis
Chapter. He is also a Board Member of Christmas in April, which serves disabled, low
income, and the elderly in St. Louis. In addition, Wayne also serves as Secretary
and Board Member of the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, and served as past

| United Homecraft wants to corner the specialty remodeling
market. And with a solid foothold in every Builders Square store in metropolitan St.
Louis, the $3.5-million company is well on its way. The retail partnership - typically
contracted for a one-year period - seems to offer the proverbial win-win scenario.
United Homecraft, which specializes in replacement windows, siding, cabinet fronts
and patio enclosures, sets up a staffed display in each store, gaining easy and affordable
access to a captive homeowner audience. The Kmart-owned home-center chain gets a
percentage of United Homecraft's sales, installation and service.
"We can spend
$10,000 on a TV ad and just wait and hope somebody calls," says Wayne Kaufman, United
Homecraft's Vice-President. "But we don't have to pay Builders Square anything until
we generate a sale."
Partners Kaufman and
William Nyberg, President, went into their first Builders Square in 1991. Since
then, the firm's list of retail partners has expanded to include Ace Hardware, Sam's Club,
and a handful of local tile stores. All totaled, United Homecraft has set up shop in
17 separate retail outlets.
The bottom line: Kaufman
estimates that the firm's retail connections now generate as much as 60 percent of United
Homecraft's total business. |
